Owl Sanctuary

The Vet Books for Africa team visited Owl Rescue Centre on Saturday.

It was an amazing experience to learn about the great work Brendan and Danelle Murray are doing in rescuing owls all over South-Africa and the world. We were privileged to be able to talk to them about what conservation of our planet is truly about, including their approach to rehabilitation of their owls. To them, the Owls come first and it is amazing to meet such dedicated people.

We would like to thank them for their time and all the amazing work they are doing.

We would also like to thank each and every student, lecturer and staff member at Onderstepoort faculty of Veterinary Science, that contributed to the bottle collection drive. Without them this would not have been possible. These bottles will now be used for making Owl houses.

Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge a SUCCESS!

This time yesterday our riders were, we’re sure, home with their legs up and enjoying a well deserved rest after the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge. Despite nature’s decision to provide us with a VERY hot and humid day, and the fact that most of our team started later and rode through midday, all of our riders conquered the monstrous and challenging race that is the 94.7! The Vet Books committee would like to once again thank Isuzu South Africa, Hill’s Pet Nutrition South Africa and Umthunzi Boutique Hotel for their sponsorship of our shirts as well as Umthunzi’s pledge to donate R2 to Vet Books for Africa for every like of their facebook page! A huge thank must also go to our team- Sumari Beumer; Chris, Resia, Theresa, Cornette and Ilze Blignaut; Glen Bosman; Luke Chambers; Rosie Cronje; Louis Du Toit; Nic Foce; com members Moritz, Brad, Matthew and Kelsey; Aqil Jeenah; Clive Mey; Kyle Piears; Linette, Marike, Willem and Petri van der Walt; Alex Westerink; Theo Schoeman and Dr Anthea Fleming. We couldn’t have done it without your guys’ support and commitment to our project. We were honoured to have you on our team and enjoyed riding beside you! Thank you so much to everyone who made this fundraiser possible and we look forward to seeing Vet Books for Africa and our team members participating once again in next years Cycle Challenge! 🙂 🙂

Dodging in support of Vet Books for Africa

On Wednesday, 24 July, Vet Books held their very first Dodegball event at Onderstepoort.

The day was a great success with 17 participating teams and even more spectators. It was amazing to see the kind of support we have from the students at OP and we look forward to hosting an even bigger Dodegball day next year!!

A big thank you to all those that got involved and showed their support and a HUGE thank you to Hills Pet Nutrition and Red Bull for their sponsorship of some fantastic prizes that we were able to provide several teams at the event!

We look forward to next year =)
